Species Name: Saxifraga stolonifera  

Common Name(s): Strawberry Begonia, Creeping Saxifrage, Strawberry Geranium   

Defining Characteristics: 

  • Grows in clusters of silver veined dark green leaves with red stalks
  • Although its leaves are similar to Begonia/ Geranium. It is not a true begonia
  • Spreads by runners that shoot off from the mother plant onto the soil below

Care Notes: Runners sent off by the mother plant can be potted in a small dish under the adult plant until rooted. At that time the pup plants can be cut from the adult plant and grown on their own. Sensitive to excess humidity and warmth. 

Shipping Notes: As good practice, Josh's Frogs recommends washing all plants thoroughly, removing as much soil as possible with dechlorinated water before placing them in their final home. Live plants may vary in color, size, and appearance.
